PlayStation Rewards beta invites sent

Sony has begun sending invites to test out its new PlayStation Rewards program in its beta stages.

Invites have been seemingly sent to some of the most active PS gamers - mainly PS Plus subscribers, we think.

"As a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you're invited to be one of the few to help us test out PlayStation Rewards while it's an invitation-only beta," reads the invitational email, which was sent to "only the best of the best".

"Designed to give PlayStation fans in the United States the opportunity to gain exclusive status, recognition, and rewards" based on PlayStation-centric activity, rewards will include exclusive PSN avatars, dynamic themes and PlayStation Home content, explained Sony in its announcement of the service last week.

There are three reward tiers for users to attain: Select, Pro and Legendary. Members advance through each tier based on their level of PlayStation activity, which includes playing new games for the first time, buying PSN and Home content, and engaging in communication with PlayStation by taking surveys, for example. As their status increases, so do the rewards.

You might want to check your email and see if you're one of the lucky few - if you're a US resident, that is. If you live in UK/Europe, forget it.
